Can anyone recommend me a stereo for around 130 bucks (just normal retail price since I'm getting it from JB-HI-FI with vouchers). Also is it possible to get stereos with USB ports that you can plug an ipod directly into (with the ipod cable) and make it work rather than using those random accessories with the AUX cables? Or would those (if they exist) be out of my price range?

A lot of head units come with USB in (though maybe not for $130) but not all of them support ipods, do some research.

I've got this and it's ****ing awesome, no cables or anything hanging out.

Ah yeah I remember you posting that in the JB HI FI thread. Looks like a baws but sadly out of my price range. From what I could see on that site, none of the cheaper ones have USB ports so I guess I would need a aux cable. If it doesn't specifically support ipods do you have to get one of those ITrip things or do you need one of those regardless?

This is cheap: http://www.hyper.co.nz/drive/audio/...id/6783/product

Not sure if it supports ipods though. Dunno much about iTrips either, are they just fm transmitters?

Yeah that's basically all they do, so you can tune your ipod into an empty fm station. Though I think normally they go through your ciggy lighter. As far as being compatible with Ipods, I suppose I can always ask the guys at JB.

Something like this has an ipod docking station http://www.parallelimported.co.nz/c...ck-station.html

Edit: Nvm apparently that headdeck is garbage.

Here is JB hi fis range. Don't think I can get anything amazing for my price range. What would be the more ideal ones for around 130 bucks or less? Though tbh I mainly just listen to the radio, just wanted the Ipod thing for longer trips.

That Panasonic one for 144 has a front USB in though doesn't mention anything about being Ipod ready

As long as it has an Aux in you can just use a cheap cable from your iPod. You won't be able to change tracks etc from the head unit, but to be honest most head units are so clunky at navigating you probably won't want to anyway.

Can someone recommend a stereo that supports direct iPod interface that can show non-Unicode (Russian, mandarin etc) characters on the display? Sick of seeing ______-_______ on the display :p

pioneer? my 4 year old one seems to display Russian ok, only gets a bit lost at really odd characters due to not having enough dots on the screen, newer ones should be better i guess.

Thinking of getting this. ~240 Landed, supports unicode, bluetooth, all that jazz. Allows me to stash my device within the head unit too _b
