I agree that it doesn't make sense. Perhaps it's all about locking people in to certain contracts so ISPs can better manage their revenue (and caps, and maybe bandwith).

Is it even possible to switch to that $82 for 60gb plan if your an existing customer? im with telstraclear and i used to be on the $75 a month plan but my 12months has run out and am now paying $105 which is a bit steep. It does say in small print for NEW telstraclear customers. I am keen to change my plan/ISP if necessary.

Ok. update regarding switching from $75 plan to new one. Had few emails with customer care and one rep offered to switch me to $82(60 gb) or $90(90 gb) plan for a contract termination fee of $99 (down from $199), 12-month contract and no wifi router. I am already 8th month into $75/mo plan, and argued that this is not the way to treat a 'loyal' customer. Either I pay no termination charge or get a free wifi router (which I can sell off and recover the termination fee). If they do not agree, I will just wait for contract to expire and switch to a better plan OR ISP. :)

Yeah hasn't this industry changed. Loyalty isn't rewarded. Grab customers with great special deals, lock them in, and then after the contract expiry sneakily increase the monthly rate.

I'd start shopping for new ISPs about 2 months out from expiry.

To make the numbers look good before they hand the company over to Vodafone NZ.

I got cable, InHome Plan with 10GB broadband and phone line. But....
the price is high. it cost $85 a month. When I look the bill of it the Broadband Cable $40 and the Phone line $45 = $85.
I thinking the phone is so dear. kinda a rip off really but oh well.
Not sure about the broadband tho?
