ordered a rev mount adapter for macro, fits either 40mm pancake or 50mm 1.8 have you used either of them?

Do you have a set f stop you use?

I've used a 50mm before, works quite well. Depends on your lighting really, but @ f/1.8 the focus is about 1-2mm haha. Try around f/8 or above.

The reverse mount adapter turned up today, slipped it on the 50mm f1.8 set to f6.3 and tryed it out, manual focus doesnt seam to do anything so just moved camera back and forward to get focus which is pretty difficult with such a shallow DOF

I was trying to take a photo of this littl bugger, who was stuck in a spiders web.

Then this guy desided I was getting to close and sorted everything out while I was looking through the view finder,I got a surprise thats for sure, managed to get 2 shots off one OOF and this one, worth the $13 just for that shot IMO

Yea shooting reversed definitely takes some getting used to, but as you can see you can get some sick shots like the spider one! Good work bro!

What's the difference/advantage between reversing a lense, or using extension tubes?

I've used extension tubes, which I guess turns my 35mm prime into a 55-80mm macro or whatever depending on how many of them are put together.

Does reversing result in better IQ or depth of field or anything? Or is it just another method to acheive the same thing.
