For 15 years, Chancellor Victor Sopot has oppressed the people of the Commonwealth. His corrupt rule and a relentless war of unification with the United Republic has left the Commonwealth bloodied and impoverished. As distant battles rage, sewage taints Sopot City's rivers, pollution smudges the sky, and wretched citizens huddle in crumbling ruins. The Public Information Building, built by the dictator as a tribute to himself, broadcasts lies about Sopot's bravery and the Commonwealth's military victories....

I found multiplayer to be fairly solid, fun, and always hectic due to the tightness of the levels that I did play. However, I think I prefer the level design in TS2 - certainly open level areas are always welcomed, which RF2 seems to lack.

Inf, you say you finished it in 10 hours on easy....that seems quite reasonable to me (for an easy setting). Have you tried the other difficulties (how many others are there?) and would you want to play thru the game again on the other settings? I find the harder difficulty really extends FPS games like TS2 and MOH:F.

I completed MOH:F on hard, and was it hard. Towards the end, levels were taking me in excess of an hour to complete. Playing games first on the hardest difficulty setting certainly draws more life out of the game that what you might normally get.

I'm still stuck on that mine cart level on hard in MOH:F.

Ooh, another q. The 40 multiplayer maps, can you play in them with bots on singleplayer? Is that any good?

Wait till you get to the next two levels...

I found with the mine cart level that you just have to try and make it through in one piece, which admittedly requires a little bit of luck.

I'm sure you could play multiplayer alone with just bots - you could in the original. It was not bad, although it gets to a point where you're always going to be winning. That said, the last Red Faction didn't have all those other game modes.

I've really only started in on hard and the AI is definitely ramped up a little. I'd like to try the sniper level on hard cos I reckon they'd be nailing you every time! I played thru on Easy for the review cos I had really limited time and I wanted to see as much as possible.

From what I've seen so far it appears you don't get all the maps after finishing on Easy so I think you need to play through on the other difficulty levels to get everything. For our invitational day I used a cheat to access All Maps just so we had a few to choose from.

By "on singleplayer" I'm guessing you mean in multiplayer mode by yourself against bots. Yes you can and yes, if you crank up their abilities it can be pretty good. RF2 and Nightfire both have fully customisable bots and this means you can tweak their abilities in various ways to provide a slightly different game every time you play. With RF2 your stats AND the stats of the bots you play with or against are all saved and can be built on so your bots actually evolve the more you play with them from what I've seen. I've still got to put a bit more time into RF2 and am actually quite looking forward to playing through again!

Yes i have completed it on the hard difficulty. It took me around 2 weeks to complete(not playing solidly) the sniper level is EXTREMELY difficult.

After seeing this running multiplayer the other day, i think i might check it out. Need a decent single player FPS, there hasn't really been one since Medal of Honour Frontline.

By the way, Gibbi, that is a very ugly signature, very ugly indeed.
