I've listened through it but don't really have an opinion yet. First impression is that it's not as heavy as I would like; relies a bit much on lyrical hooks instead of instrumental ones.

That's my impression anyway; I might be dead wrong because I was doing other stuff whilst listening and only half paying attention :D

SHIHAD - BEAUTIFUL MACHINE

01 - ONE WILL HEAR THE OTHER
A good song, everybody has heard it. Some would say all the radio/tv time this song had has kinda killed it. I still like it very much. It's my ringtone too!

02 - RULE THE WORLD
Dark guitaring, with a good melody. I like this song a lot. Good track.

03 - HARD TO PLEASE
An intro of weird guitaring sounds then goes into a nice beat from the drums. Toogood sounds too good on this track. Awesome

04 - BEAUTIFUL MACHINE
A technoish poppy guitaring song that intro reminds me of Crack That Whip song. Lyrics are very good. Again, nice track

05 - VAMPIRES
Probably my favourtie track on the CD - Man I love this song. It's very good, worth paying the CD alone for this song. Amazing.

06 - COUNT IT UP
I think this is their second single from the CD? Just a hard out rock song that's only 2.22

07 - WAITING AROUND FOR GOD
Another good track, very hearty song. I like it man!

08 - CHAMELEON
Nice rocking guitaring with a heavy drumming beat, a more heavier song on the CD, which the fans will like. Not one of my fav songs on the CD but it's okay.

09 - ELIZA
Nice soft song.

10 - THE BIBLE AND THE GUN
A track that starts off slow then builds up, very rock.

11 - WHEN YOU COMING HOME?
The people here who went to see Shihad at BDO will remember this, it's about Toogood's girl. I think it's pretty good. Another of my fav tracks

12 - THE PROPHET
Longest song on the CD, and it's a great way to end a good cd. Like it.

OVERALL RATING:
7.5/10
nothing at all wrong with it. Go buy it, go support these fellas. It's worth it.

My thoughts exactly, was going to suggest that they changed their name back to Pacifier. New single certainly pacifies me so much it sends me to sleep.

Saw them on Sunrise this morning; Toogood saying they're now in a much happier place, which is reflected in the music. F**k that noise.

I'd like to hear Shihad play Family Reunion again. Or anything off Churn, even one of the softer songs (okay the one soft song Bone Orchard). But i suspect Shihad might be dead to me now. Oh well, never mind.

It seems the same every time they release a new album people don't like it. Can't please everyone I spose. I'm liking it so far, already know some of the songs on it from live recordings.

Rule the world is pretty good _b

Its slower, but imo its still decent stuff.

Not so, i loved Love Is The New Hate, considered it to be a return to form. Now they're going backwards again :(

I'm with JC here; nothing touches the pure industrial strength of Churn.

Yeah I heard bits of that. Some of it sounded ok live, but thats nothing new Shihad could make Baa Baa Black Sheep sound good live.

I wont bother with the studio recording.

I'm probably the biggest Shihad fan on her, so my opinion is worth 10x more than yours. ;)

Seriously though...

It's a good album. It's definitely not my favourite Shihad album, I am a little disappointed in the way it's turned out, because the songs are much better live (cliche I know). Songs like "When You Coming Home" and "Count It Up" just had so much more balls/feeling when played live. The production is a bit too plastic for my tastes. Having said this though, it reminds me of a less-organic version of the Fish album, and is most definitely not the worst album to come out this year.

On the Shihad scale I'd rank it above the Pacifier album, but probably not above anything else.

Oh PS: Killjoy > Churn.
And PPS: Love is the New Hate was ****ing fantastic.

Just saw the bassist and drummer on c4. Mad respect for answering the "You guys have changed heaps" question with "That's how we roll" as appose to going on some big massive wanky tangent like most musicians/wannabe philosophers

Well i bought two albums yesterday, Shihad - Beautiful Machine & Bleeders - Bleeders. Both excellent to listen to.

I don't quite know what i was expecting from the new Shihad album but listening to John T on the rock he was saying they got all the anger out last album and now were heading in a direction that felt right & wasnt forced due to studio time constraints. All this mainly due to Tom L now having a studio in Melbourne.

That certainly has come across and i am sure it will grow on me more with time. I am enjoying the Bleeders album more at present but that is just this week :)
