As per the original purpose of the thread:
I have a Nissan Avenir. It has satnav/tv (broken) and a decent sounding stereo a (very) small subwoofer under the passenger seat. I want to connect my iPod to this, and thusly purchased a cable which is supposed to plug into the CD changer port on any Kenwood stereo. Which would have been great except my car has a very different type type of connector (proprietary Nissan OEM?).

Anyway, does anyone have suggestions how I could
a/ Connect my iPod to existing factory Kenwood head unit or
b/ Replace head unit but still keep the pretend sub working

Also, as I mentioned the satnav/tv unit is dead (like blank screen, it used to display a Jap BSOD but now completely dead). This doesn't bother me. What does is that the air cond controls run off the same touch screen unit. Any suggestions on how to fix this (swap in a normal a/c controller?)

^^ you might be shit out of luck, unless you either find the pinout diagram for your headunit and/or hack the cable up to connect to the right pins.

The piston runs in a liner, not the block, so when one goes, you need to replace the liner and piston. They cost moon beams to work on. We had one at work that had shit its self, IIRC the bill came to over 6k. There is a specialist somewhere, that does them regularly, and isnt badly priced, PM me if you want his details.

Pistons and liners for a RoverK is actually pretty cheap. Standard OE liners are a couple hundred bucks at most, stock pistons aren't much either.

Depends exactly how f*cked the engine is, and what's gone wrong with it. I know my way around this engine better than most so PM me if you want specifics.

The only thing I could think of with the sat nav is to find a crashed one of the same import year and do the switcharoo, satnav wont work but aircon should.. Mate had a Honda with the same deal.

However for the stereo you could remove it and try and figure out how many channels it has. It may have five, two being front speakers, two being rear speakers and the fifth being the low frequency mono sub channel. In this case replacing the head unit in hope of powering the sub would mean buying an external amplifier to power it etc.

If your lucky though, you may find the sub is already powered by a little external factory installed amplifier. This could result in buying a replacement head unit and just hooking up the front and rear channels as normal, followed by hooking up the line to said amplifier.

anyone got any ideas why my bloody corolla's got a near constant surging at low to mid throttle? goes away when i cane the tits off it, but honestly, i can't afford the fuel bill from running it to and from work at 7500rpm.

seems to be fuel not spark, but running it with the choke on or off doesn't make any difference. seems to be running on 3 half the time too.

Maybe i've got two problems...

any ideas? I never got the hang of carbies during my apprenticeship

efi? carby? could be afm/map sensor, oxygen sensor cant make up its mind, injectors might need a clean.. who knows. how well
has it been looked after

if it was efi, i'd be set. i did enough on them to know how to sort out the problems, however all i did right thru my apprenticeship was take a carbie off a car, and bolt on on a car. that's all in 3 years. Gotta love the modern apprenticeshit system

this - incase the jets are a tad sad and need a clue - also im not sure with this but something could be worn on it causing trouble (i doubt it but worth having a look?)

carbies are great - especially when you go through a hedge at 80kmh on a DR250 and it spews fuel all over you - you really make an effort to get up REALLY fast and pick the bike up as the smell of petrol + bike revving its nads off on its side wont be healthy for it

I'm tempted to buy a RIPS RB30DET at some stage in the future.

sweet...will give it a shot. i've always been a bit sus about using additives, kinda dubious about how well they work etc. Don't really know why.
