Couldn't find a recent thread dedicated to this,so i thought i would start one. Im looking at getting a seedbox for a friend and i to share, and i have come across quite a few different providers. Anyone with a seedbox care to share who their provider is, and what the service is like?

At this stage im probably going to go with feralhosting, but they are sold out....

I've always used www.xirvik.com and www.pulsedmedia.com

Have used xirvik as my primary for the past 3 years though. Recommend them very highly.

had a look at xirvik, its USD37 for the account i would get, 10 active torrents and 75 gigs of storage. one of the pricier options i have come across

Go semi-dedicated. 75Gb Storage, Unlimited Torrents, 3 People sharing the line instead of 5-10. $25USD.

The lower unranked providers > mainstream busy providers.

I have 300GB, true 1GB network connection, unlimited up and downloads, and the entire box to myself (Can max 1GB 24/7) and pay about $19 a month, depending on exchange rate.

No I won't list who I am with because obviously the more popular a provider is, the slower the boxes are and the higher the target the become.

yeah thats what i was thinking, though i have heard of people giving their money to obscure little seedbox providers and never hearing from them

It's fine if you don't bring attention to yourself I guess, ie. high resource usage on the node.

But still risky, they will probably terminate your service immediately if caught, wipe all data etc.

Yes and no... Its not uncommon for them to put that in there to neglect liability but not really care... For example, every VPN provider a few years back had this in their ToA, but not once acted on it.

Just get a VPS server for like 5 bucks in Europe somewhere and spend an hour or two learning Linux, theres plenty of documentation about it.

Its what I did, I pay about 5 usd for my Netherlands VPS that I installed ftp rtorrent in etc.

Bugger paying3/4/5 times that for someone to do it for me.

however, if you need to restart your server, you may need to post a thread in the forums. Maybe they updated the servers though, i haven't used them in like year, you pay a premium, but to top it off, you can host nearly anything on the servers

been using whatbox for 3 months now. no complaints from me.

whatbox and feralhosting were both sold out of the plan i wanted at the time. dediseedbox seems good so far, took them about 12 hours to setup. speeds vary, but i have one torrent going at 3.5MB/s with all my torrents going at about 5MB/s total. ill keep an eye on this and see how fast it goes.

you guys on whatbox, what sorta speeds do you get?

You mean up or down?

I share it with some other people, but i've hit ~4MB/s down total.. up about the same, depending on who was downloading what..

me and mate go halfs on a nice seed box, pay about 25-30$ for 3 mnths for a 100mb connection, 40gig space and unlimited downloads/uploads.
