Hey guys and gals

TLDR I can no longer get Java to work on my PC. When I said it won't work I mean when I visit my internet banking site the Java applet will not run and also when I go to the Java site and choose to detect what version I have it comes up with errors. I'm so stuck for ideas that I'm just thinking it would be easiest now to start again from scratch with windows :( If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions I would really appreciate hearing them! Cheers :D I'm running W7 64bit home premium.

What I believe is NOT causing it to fail:

Virus' and/or Spyware
A specific internet browser
Internet Security Program
Windows Firewall

Summary of what I have done:

I'm running Norton Internet Security 2012. I tried uninstalling Norton then reinstalling Java and trying it out and it doesn't work. I've Performed a full scan with nothing found.
I uninstalled Norton Internet Securty and installed Microsoft Security Essentials and scanned and found nothing.
I've tried to run it on Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer all with the same results.
Tried running it with Windows Firewall turned off.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it about 5 times (also tried and earlier version too).
I've cleared all my cache history. I noticed the word cache used a lot in the error logs so I've tried putting a lot of focus into this.

Here is a copy of the error log:

Go into Add/Remove programs and uninstall Java Runtime Environment 7.
You may then want to install JRE 6 update 32 (latest), download from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/j...ds-1594646.html

Ok I'll give that a shot. The current Java is 7.4 and when I installed an older version I only went as far back as 7.2. Reason I didnt go back to JRE6 is cause I know v7 was working on my pc previously, but definitely worth a go!

Ok I've tried this and I have different results than before. Now when I go to my banks website and try to run the applet it just keeps loading non stop and the applet does not appear although the webpage adjusted to make the space for the applet to fit in if that makes sence. When I go to the Java webpage to detect the Java version it now tell me that I have and older version installed. I chose the option to check if my older version was working and it locked up my web browser :(

Did you restart your web browser after running the Java installer?
Also I think it would be best not to have multiple builds of JRE installed, browser plugins that came with JRE 7 also have issues with browser crashes I think :|

Try looking in the 'Java' control panel (can be found in in the windows control panel), click on the advanced tab and wade through the many security settings. Or turn on the debugging.

I've had similar sounding problems for a specific tool I use at work since Java v6.20 ... for me I always have to disable the mixed code security, however having said that, yours is for Internet banking to proceed with caution if you do decide to play with security settings.

1.) Uninstall all java.
2.) Rebooted
3.) Run CCleaner to clean all your cached internet files etc.
4.) Install java 6u32 both 32 and 64-bit:
http://filehippo.com/download_jre_32/12197/
http://filehippo.com/download_jre_64/12198/
5.) Profit...

I tried that already :( But in the interest of computers being fussy things I'll do it again exactly as you advice and see if I can get a better result. Thanks again for the help/interest everyone :) Will post and update when that's done (I have a baby so finding 10m to do this is not as easy as it sounds :/ )

Same again. When I try to use my banking on Chrome (after putting in my personal number) the webpage locks up fully. On firefox it opens the webpage and makes space for where the applet would appear but it stays blank then just locks up loading QQ

Tried deleting the Java Application cache?

Start > %userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Sun
if that doesn't work replace LocalLow with Local (or could be in Roaming..)

Absolute path = C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\LocalLow\Sun

It looks something like this:
