Creating a web page with login

Okay so I need to create a basic web page with maybe 2 pages one with a login screen and then the next page needs to be one that can only be opened if you are logged in. It needs to have a database of some sort to store the user names and passwords. This site will be used to test a new program. It will be stored and hosted on a windows server 2008 machine. I have never done any web design or creation before so I have no idea where to start or what to do. Any help would be appreciated or links to sites that may have a template or something I could use would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Um. Is this a homework assignment? Because you don't necessarily need a database. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...09(WS.10).aspx

If you do write your own the biggest thing is making sure the data you let pass is actual user data and not malicious code, or a string too long to store in your database, etc...restrictive regex is your friend.

If you're using ASP.NET for this it's almost automatic, you won't need to touch anything explicitly. (Which is good, because if it's your first time you're liable to mess up some kind of security-related issue.)
