    where do they go after the 9000 series? start using 3 letter codes like nvidia with GTX?

    Great to see the lower end cards using 2gb vram now. Guess were finally transitioning from 1gig being the norm to 2gig.

    Why? The low end 7700 series GPUs don't have enough power to make the most of the 2GB at any resolution that needs it.

    I think you may be confused with 'Binning', you will note that chipnames have those suffix.

    More than likely after HD 9000 series they will drop the 'HD' and have something else as a prefix. (note previous one being 'X')
