No where on the packaging for high speed hdmi cables does it mention anything about 2.0a or bandwidth. Was really annoying.

I find this TV tech to be far more confusing than PC tech if I'm being honest.

Then again, I've been dealing with potatoes so long, I don't know what to do when a golden kumara gets dumped in my lap

Oh nice, the one I'm using probably isn't one of those: it's been the same since 2013 when I bought this Z77 mobo.

The whole HDMI thing kind of confuses me, stoked we can play ME:A in 1080/60 with HDR: wonder if a 980 would do 4K at locked 30fps...hmm (not likely I'm thinking) - anyone able to chime in who has played BF1 perhaps in 4K with a 980/3770K combo?
Some benchmarks here to get an idea of Video card performance. There is no 980 listed but you should be able to gauge roughly how your card will perform in 4k. Could possibly get the 980 to run at 30fps but imagine you'll need to tweak some settings and turn a lot of detail down.

I had a 1080 and tried playing games on my 4k Bravia and the experience on some of the games I tried was terrible running at ultra quality.

Oh sorry didn't look further down, didn't realise the performance of the 980 was that bad lol.

Let me guess; you rocked up and said "I'm not waiting until 31 January, please cancel the order!" and they magicked one up from somewhere?
    Something like that.

I spoke to some strain of 'manager', quoted CGA about unreasonable waiting times and told this person to cancel my order, got a call back a while later about some error with the delivery dates and that my order will be ready early this week.

Who knows with these lot. Could be true, probably isn't.

Great TV though so not too annoyed at them any more.

I must say with the KS8000 and HDR, it's totally totally worth it. And you're listening to a grumpy old bastard that don't believe there's anything under the sun to delight me any more.

The last time I was this impressed with tech was when I bought a SSD drive.

Just watched the latest Sherlock Holmes episode in 10bit and I spent 99% of the episode just perving at the colours.

You should elaborate quite a bit.
Sorted now. When just about all your ideas fail, rip the power cord out and reboot the damn thing.

Last time I was blown away by a piece of tech like this was when I got home with my N64 in 1998 with Goldeneye and fired it up....blew my mind.

4K HDR content has had a similar, but not quite as hearty an impact on my eyeballs

fibre installed now - how do I find HDR content on netflix? none of the movies/shows had a HDR logo and I have the most expensive plan, I can watch in UHD but which is HDR?

  19. Post
oh ok so the netflix app on ps4 doesnt support HDR - lols, what does?

  20. Post
PS4 Pro should do it iirc. I watch 4K/Hdr through the smart TV apps. Netflix and Amazon prime are what I've got.

  21. Post
I've got the newest version of netflix on the tv as well, but still not HDR from that side. Looks like only games will do HDR for me

  22. Post
My TV's Netflix app does HDR (Sony), but PS4 (Pro or otherwise) app does not yet support HDR.

  23. Post
Ah right, hopefully they update that.

Netflix normally shows Hdr under the shows title page for me if the shoe supports it, Amazon prime does it while you're watching the episode on my tv(Sony 49x8000D)

  24. Post
yeah tv not going into hdr mode while using netflix on the tv or ps4 - oh well (samsung ju6400)

  25. Post
According to this forum here, Netflix doesn't change into HDR mode all on J series (2015) Samsung TV's - so there is clearly an issue here with the app and or the tv not allowing the app to use HDR
