Since the forum died and killed the awesome thread that we had, here is the new one and hopefully you all know the drill but for those that don't:

Post the name of whatever movie you have seen in this thread and give a brief synopsis about the movie and why you liked/disliked it. Then give it a rating out of 10.

I'll begin with Pursuit of Happyness

Great movie actually. Will Smith is surprisingly good in his portrayal of Chris Gardner. In parts, the movie was a little depressing but then again life as a single father trying to get by without a proper job would have its low points. Digged the Rubix Cube scene! And a bit of trivia for you:

    Spoiler:

    6/10

    The Marine:

Say it due to free premiere tickets tonight.
Aside from Hoyts screwing up the hardware (listed time 6.30, screen started working at 7.20 ) it was pretty average.

The usual plot holes, big explosions, cliche lines etc.

I wouldn't pay to watch it, but for free probably a 5/10 at best.

    Friends With Money

Jennifer Aniston has never been one of my favourite actresses but she has pulled out some pretty well executed roles over the last few years. One of my favourites of hers would have to be The Good Girl with Jake Gyllenhaal (a pretty good drama and seriously messed up in places). This movie - 'Friends with Money' is along a similar vein as 'The Good Girl' - slightly messed up in some places and a whole lot more believable than some of her previous roles. She was also pretty good in Office Space as well.

    Last King of Scotland

Man, this movie rocked. Easy to see why Forest Whitaker won the Oscar for his portrayal of Idi Amin. Good movie even though some of the characters were fictionalised.

    Letters From Iwo Jima

I have to say that this movie was far better than Flags Of Our Fathers. Only thing is it's pretty emotional, not exactly a happy movie. People in my session were sobbing...

Ken Watanabe still rules as one of Japan's best.

    Smokin' Aces

    http://imdb.com/title/tt0475394/

Gave it 7.5/10 - Heaps of twists, some really good scenes and overall a good drama/comedy

Also saw the marine and it has to be the worst movie of the century... 0.5/10

    Hot Fuzz

8/10 - Hilarious movie. If you loved Shaun of dead its exactly the same style of genius comedy.

    Ghost Rider

2/10 - Boring. No direction. Doesn't really explain any of the characters motivations for doing anything.

    The Good German

I was so hyped about this movie and after seeing it, I am now so very disappointed. It was slow, the intrigue wasn't even intriguing and I almost fell asleep

The only single redeeming feature is Tobey Maguire as one conniving, evil mutha! He's great

I can't decide whether this or Shaun of the Dead is better!
I feel like watching Point Break now.

    Little Man.

Not normally my type of movie as I prefer thrillers but it was quite funny.

I rate it a 6/10 although it only got a 2.7 rating from imdb.

    88 Minutes

    I give this 7/10.

It is a good movie but it feels a little disjointed somehow.

    Pan's Labyrinth

Awesome movie. For those of you are unsure of what this is about - think 'Labyrinth' except way grittier, way more violent and a whole lot less fairytale-like than it looks. Also, the movie is Spanish with English subtitles so be aware of that if you don't like subtitled movies. In my session, I overheard a few people complain that they didn't know it was subbed. The ending was just amazing and it's interesting to see a Spanish rendition of the mythical story behind Pan.

    Black Sheep - 5/10

The beginning was good but the movie suddenly went mediocre right after the truck ride off the cliff. Even with the gore.

^ a lot of the jokes just didn't work and made it feel awkward. And they turned the humans into sheep-monsters too soon... it should have been like a video game... where you've got all the bad guys through out the game, till you get to the end and have to fight the big boss bad guy. By bringing out the big boss halfway through the movie it made the end rather unexciting. And the sheep shagging thing was played wrong... It should have been wildly funny, but just felt weird.

    Casino Royale

Best Bond in a long time. The problem is that this was not exactly hard to accomplish - I found it entertaining but nothing more. Was a good popcorn flick and luckily I wasn't really expecting much else anyway.

    6.5/10

    The Departed

Casino Royale was a good warmup. I thoroughly enjoyed The Departed although in my opinion it did not live up to the hype. (because nothing ever does) Mark Wahlberg and Jack Nicholson were the standouts for me in a star packed cast, offering most of the good comedic relief. Jack Nicholson is always badass. (and he always looks like he has been dragged through a dumpster 10 times before coming to the set)

    The Prestige (Blu-ray)
    at http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/prestige.html

It's war between 19th century magicians Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) and Christian Bale (Batman Begins). The audience is unsurprised if a magic secret is revealed. But to reveal the ultimate secret of The Transported Man - inventor Nikola Tesla (David Bowie) - would attract nations for military supremacy, similar to the clone warriors from Star Wars. I preferred the young and handsome Christian Bale to be the likely winner in the end. 8/10

Gotta agree... doesn't live up to the hype. Still a damn good movie though. But hardly Scorsese's best...

    Little Miss Sunshine

I enjoyed this. The characters came across very well (i'm not sure how to explain it, they just seemed 'real'). Not really a 'comedy' as such - as most of the humour came from realising the absurdity of the situations they were in. Not as funny as everyone said at all but still a good movie. (please don't say 'I just didn't get it)

    Curse of the Golden Flower

I really enjoyed this. Gong Li is better off playing roles like this than she is roles like the one she had in Miami Vice and not because this is a movie spoken in her native language either. Chow Yun Fat is great as the Emperor. Quite dramatic and yet very much exposing more of Zhang Yimou's strengths as a director. The blatant use of colour in his movies really comes full circle in Curse of the Golden Flower - and it's beautifully done, even if the movie isn't based on historical fact

Dramatic, moving, sad and even perhaps a little slow in some places, I still give it a 7/10

    Sunshine

Despite what some people have said about Sunshine, I actually enjoyed this. Great cast and the story seemed interesting right up until it went all
    Spoiler:

If you like thrillers, you'll probably enjoy this but as far as Sci Fi movies go, there'll be better movies coming out this year.
