Yeah tyres and brakes are a killer on giant euro tanks. The V8 TDIs are great motors though.

    If only it was manual

Although I should just get the turbo:

    Trademe WANTS!

That Turbo is a great deal. Throw a tune and some intercoolers on it and it would run 550bhp no sweat. I question your taste when it comes to that yellow thing

I kinda want this. Rough, but fun to just hoon and not worry about making rougher. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/use...1896523054.htm

Probably a more engaging experience than a tiptronic 996 Carrera TBH.

If i'm spending the money though I would have to get one of these. The box needs ticking and it can fit 2 kids in the back.

So much pine for an older 911 (like that '85) but prices are on the up and we'll out of being obtainable now.

That ego on wheels is cool, but you know you can definitely fit two car seats in the back of a 996 or 997, the leather seat cushions are just Velcro’d on and come straight off so you can put them in...

You might have a chance sooner than you think. Economic downturn on the way...

Its ugly, but its green, v8 and a wagon... such conflict.

Those have doubled in value since I last looked. Also its a non-homogation small turbo variant.

Those never appealed to me, those soft swollen lines ... I dunno, it just looks whack.

    Pretty sweet daily

Jebus, that finally fixes the one issue i had with those things; the lazy auto.

  15. Post
The one issue I had with them was the rubbish handling. Make that two issues, lack of LSD.

That manual one is a cool one though, whoever did it, done good.

Yeah, I stumbled onto that one on one of my saved searches.

That would be a seriously fun vehicle, but would serve no purpose in my vehicle fleet. Plus, to be honest, I'm so Scottish about petrol bills, that other than race cars, I get really uptight about fuel consumption (we shall not speak of the thirst level of the V8 Altezza when being used in competition).

    280hp is fast?

  18. Post
Compared to a Suzuki Swift it is.

  19. Post
As a package, it's fast. What else can you get for that money, with that reliability. I don't know of that many small/mid sized cars with 280HP from the factory.

    Versus Porsche no.

Versus typical Corolla of that era, yes.

  21. Post
    I understand the statement
    This is the fastest Corolla
I do not understand the statement
    Pick 3. Cheap, reliable, fast.

$14k is a fair whack of car

  22. Post
Cheap - not in my book
Reliable - well the engine better be because you'll be cursing when you have to work on it
Fast - maybe once the front tyre has stopped smoking

Yes, shoehorn the V6 from the Aurion in to the smaller Corolla, what could go wrong?
