    Fair enough.
Might still go, will see how he goes in Makara tomorrow.
Said mate lives nearby so was thinking of a ride close to him.

Welly regulars, going to check out Colonial Knob* on Wednesday morning with a mate.
He's probably an intermediate rider so nothing too gnarly.
What's the good loop out there?
For you it will be shit, for him might be ok. I hate the place but it’s close to home so is good for a quick blat

An intermediate rider should be able to ride everything up their really.

I'll be taking him to Makara tomorrow as he's hiring a bike from Muds.
Trying to ride with as many of my old riding buddies no matter the skill difference.

Even rode Peak Flow for the first time today.
    Man it's rubbish.
    So loose in the corners.
Then it goes uphill and meanders about not being steep enough to be fast and fun.
Oh well gotta try these things before I bag them.
Made up for it with a good run down Trickles then back in for Livewires.
Forgot how damn fun the latter is.
Fast, steepish and rough in bits.
Enough to let you get rowdy.

^Colonial Knobs good for a couple of visits, but after that it's boring.

Wouldn't go back to having no knee pads. Elbow pads is something I'm looking into getting as well, want something quite light though.

Does anyone here wear any particular riding socks? The pair I got in the states are pretty tatty now, just wondering if there are any wonder socks out there I should know about?
Yeah I've ordered some elbow pads too, just some light ones to stop scrapes and deep cuts. And for socks, I just wear whatever. Atm just some Kmart dinosaur ones lol.

Trickle is such a good ride only thing I hate about makara is the climb feels like it goes on forever

new grips, new stem, saddle and knee pads came today... can't wait to try them out.

Colonial Knob wasn't bad at all.
    Anything there > Peak Flow.
The 4wd track after Chimney was a great waste of elevation though.
Tumeke had a few berms I enjoyed slapping.

    Lol if you say so
I was pissed off when I got to the end of Peak Flow.
I had fun doing dumb shit in Tumeke.

Peak flow is a better run than anything at Colonial imo.

    Epic vid;

Lol I think once the park opens up should be some better tracks. After the entrance to chimney sweep it’s more just keep going and you can walk to mt kaukau

    Did you ride crash palace?

  12. Post
I would have to agree with Peak Flow being better.

The other trails must be pretty terrible for peak flow to be better, I just watched a video of it - featureless flow trail that's poorly surfaced and has a climb in the middle?

    Hmm.

Yeah hopefully it'll get better if the park goes in.
It was sort of the opposite for Chch, the existing trails were amazing and I was glad a lot of them stayed.
But the increased traffic took its toll and you could really see it degrade much faster.

We rode the very first part of Cash Palace but didn't continue as we were running out of time with the car parked at the opposite side.
Dusty slippery entry was interesting, nothing like the rest of the other trails.
Got better when the ground hardened and the trail got tighter.
Might come back next time to check out the rest.

A day of rain would make the trails so much nicer to ride

  17. Post
    Totally.
    Hit up Yeah Gnar today.
Looser and more slippery than I remember a year ago.
Kept it steady but didn't hit the A-lines.
Even got separated from the bike a couple times.
Sure is a 100% commitment trail.
Wished I had my full face.

So what's there deal with the future of Livewires?
Heard it might be in jeopardy.

I ordered a basic hardtail through bike barn a couple of weeks ago, has yet to arrive. Is this normal for them/bike shops in general?

  19. Post
Not sure mate first I’ve heard about it.

Way to dry everywhere even found trickle to be a little loose

Blue vein not really if it’s only a basic item 9 times out of 10 they will have stock of it, if not they should have been in touch

From what I've heard its on the chopping block in order to continue work on the bottom part of the park there.

I guess they want the space to continue with some more beginner oriented trails descending to the carpark?

They don't have the most reliable reputation so might as well give them a chase up call. Wont hurt. If its delayed even more just ask for some free shit

  21. Post
    That's a shame.
    Such a fun track.
I remember when it was called Pylon 19.
Still very popular from the blokes I was chatting to at the car park.

How long you in Wellington for Astoria

    Leaving Sunday evening.
Gonna see what'll be good if it rains tomorrow, aiming for Leaping Lizard.
Haven't been that way in over a decade.
Though with the line work happening I'm not sure if it'll play.

  24. Post
Hopefully it does rain then I’ll be on the bike Saturday after work otherwise I’ll just work at home this weekend haha

They probably didn't have it in stock. I had a mate order a trek remedy from torpedo7 and it took him over a month to get it. Just get on their backs about it.
