    Lego Collectors

    Sup GP,

I've recently got back into collecting lego sets and must so its soooo damn fun!

My old man gave away all my Lego when I hit the teens (kent!) So now i'm just relieving those childhood memories.

So far i've managed to pick up :

    - Imperial Flagship (Classic pirate series)
    - Millenium Falcon (Star Wars)
    - Tie Fighter (Star Wars)
    - Desert Skiff (Star Wars)
    - Gungan Sub (Star Wars)
    - Limited Edition Chrome Darth Vader (Star Wars)
    - Full set of Series 6 Minifigures
    - About 25 loose Star Wars minifigures

Who else is into Lego here and what have you got?

    (I'm not a collector, but...)

I bought the new x-wing for the kid the other day and it's pretty excellent.

Everything is pretty sturdy and actually very playable without it coming apart (as I have noticed many of the newer sets seem to with greater frequency than they once did).

The wife has put a bit of a moratorium on any new Lego sets though as she thinks that we have too much. I keep telling her that there's no such thing.

Have a heap of stuff from the mid 80's - mid 90's and then a bunch of newer stuff purchased in the last couple of years. I don't keep sets together though; it all just gets mixed up.

Photo of about 1/2 of my son's (and some of what was my) lego (posted in another lego thread a while back):

Looks like hours upon hours of fun right there

Half the fun is mixing it all up as a kid and just letting their minds run wild and build whatever the **** they want!

Anyone got the LOTR Lego yet?

See Mighty Ape has it due for release mid Sep. Fishpond have most sets available now by drop ship from the US (built into pricing). Official Lego shop doesn't ship to NZ for them yet. Considering importing from Ebay or Bricklink, but haven't looked into that yet in terms of costs with shipping.

Could possibly wait a few months until it's out and wait for a sale at toyworld or warehouse I guess.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, I thought it was only available in September, might have to look into importing some stuff myself.

I haven't done this, but I know people in NZ have been using http://www.barnesandnoble.com to get LOTR Lego and the like earlier and cheaper than from NZ retail.

Just got some LOTR Lego from Toyplanet - http://www.toyplanet.co.nz/Lord-Of-T...-b-987679.html

Much cheaper than on Trademe. For some reason the prices on the website say price + GST, but the price in the shop includes GST. So ignore that part.

I got Gandalf Arrives and Uru-Khai Army. Will probably buy the bigger pieces from barnesandnoble.com as works out much cheaper for the bigger sets.

Anyone else got any LOTR stuff yet?

FYI - Warehouse have a sale on some LOTR sets at the mo, attack on weathertop, uru-khai army, gandalf arrives, shelob attacks. Really good savings, you can pick up attack on weathertop for $73, usually $100.

Cheers bro! Almost forgot about this stuff. Just picked up Gandalf and Shelob sets from Warehouse online. Might checkout my local and see if the have Uruk-hai and weathertop which are in store special only.

Fishpond looks to have the bigger sets cheapest at the moment, but shipping from the US (free though). bit dodgy on Fishpond though. Could maybe ask Mighty Ape to price match or might just wait until they come on sale somewhere.

All good bruv! Also, if your looking at getting the whole range, don't forget there is a limited edition Frodo with cooking corner promo set that crops up on Trademe from time to time

Yeah, my local Warehouse was sold out of weathertop so just gotta find a store that has one before the sale ends.

barnesandnoble.com is your best bet for getting the bigger sets from the states, landed I think Helms Deep comes to $160NZD. ****ing $100 saving right there

Had both of these as a kid.
A couple of other train sets too.

For those who are collecting, are you taking them out of their boxes?
