The 8700k absolutely loves the hot weather, 95c under load is considered pretty cool right???

How's everyone's cpu handling the warmer weather? supposed to be 20C+ the next week or so. My 1700x is ideling at 40-43C compared to 33-36C.
My 3600 hit 65 max under many hours full load, its the GPU that struggles for me

I need a new CPU for summer. Getting thermal throttle on my OC'd 1600. Mind you, I havent reseated the thing since launch.

One day NZ will discover a marvelous 1960s technology called central heating where the temp stays the same year round. Probably need to build decent houses first....

With what cooler? Must be pushing it quite far if the cooler is struggling (and isn't rubbish).

My room doesn't really change in temp much, AC FTW.

2700 is $140USD for Black Friday...

Just got one and an X570 board. Will upgrade it to a gen 3 16 core when I need more performance down the line.

I have had one since launch last year, don't think I will feel the need to upgrade it for quite a while still.

It's going to be a VMHost for a bunch of servers. Even then I'm hoping to only need to upgrade around the time a 3950X becomes cheap.

My desktop machine is an E3-1230 v5.

My desktop was also a Xeon (6 core -12 thread though) and it runs rings around it.

Impressive to beat out all of Intel's chips in 1080P gaming! Probably while sitting at 20% CPU usage too ROFL. Will have to check the reviews tonight.

Probably even less than 20%, maybe just 10%
    And that's just a 3950x, maybe 5% usage for a 3970x and 2.5% usage for a 3990x

You know the game is poorly optimised when both GPU and CPU are not close to being maxed. Have seen the 9900K usage much higher in other games. 3990X will decimate all!

Halo Reach drops on pc this week. Will be interesting to see how it performs.

We hit 35 degrees inside our house the other day with all the windows and doors open. Its practically a glass house. Stayed in the high 20s all through the night.

    Bugger that!

MindFactory (one of the largest PC stores in Germany) likes to publish it's sales data.

As of November, it's selling 25,000 CPU's per month and 82% of those are for AMD!

Are you gonna rock the 3950x grim

Intels 14nm supply shortage is so bad they are bringing back 22nm!

This is not a joke, they are now producing Hyper threaded dual cores on 22nm again for OEM supply just so the likes of dell/hp etc stop complaining

Apparently Dell have already hit AMD up for more supplies.

Meanwhile, rumour is AMD is going 5nm in 2021 https://wccftech.com/amd-zen-4-5-nm-launching-2021/

2021 could be the year of the 5s

    Ryzen 5000
    Built on 5nm
    For the AM5 platform
    Supporting DDR5 RAM
    And PCIE 5
    Maybe 5ghz boost clock

  22. Post
TSMC are on track to deliver 3nm in 2022 as well.

Something is seriously wrong at that company. They've managed to turn a 2 generation advantage to a one generation+ disadvantage in four years. They have done nothing in four years, how is that even possible for such a large and wealthy company. Would be interesting to see a documentary on it.

Probably the best logic I've seen from the CEO himself
