If only guns were restricted to over 18yos like games are.

The game is not to blame. The parents who purchased an R18 game for an 8 year old are to blame.

All of the above points, plus I don't remember the part in GTA IV where you are awarded points for killing people, or even "encouraging violence", in fact the main character expresses several times how he does not like being violent.

if anything with how depressing the whole setting for GTA4 was id sooner have expected to turn around and cut himself rather than killing someone else

GTAIV is to blame, not people who keep loaded firearms around in places accessible to children, ok, guys?

If the woman was shot while watching TV, how was GTA "Still running", unless the woman was the one playing GTA?

So first issue, why has an 8yo got access to a firearm unsupervised ( I was bought up on a farm so knowing how to shoot a rifle was a normal occurrence however I never had access to one outside of supervised use)
Secondly letting an 8yo play GTA is a bit far really.
And thirdly, blaming GTA for the act is ridiculous how many thousands of people play GTA and don't shoot other people?

and fourthly, ERMERICA!! that is all.

This is disgusting. Hope they cancel the release of GTA V until shit like this is properly investigated. We can't have games being made encouraging kids to kill parents!

This wouldn't have happened if he had been playing GTA IV on the PC.

Games for windows Live would have needed and update and killed his save file so he was doomed anyway

I say we take it a step further and re-introduce Leisure Suit Larry-esque age-gate questions, and passwords hidden in manuals.

a realistic game that has been associated with encouraging violence and awards points to players for killing people
Quite clearly they're thinking of a different game.

    Where's the headline that reads:
"Parents blamed for child's exposure to Grand Theft Auto IV."???
It's age restricted. Parents who are total utter idiots in the way they raise their kids should have some accountability.

If an 8 year old child's caregiver allows it access to R18 games and firearms, that is a bad caregiver.

If that caregiver is then shot by the child...

Why did an EIGHT-YEAR-OLD have access to an R18+ game and a GUN? What an irresponsible caregiver.

Any press is good press. Clearly Rockstar have done it again with some cheap advertising.

Subliminal messaging in GTA IV has worked again and they get some free press with GTA V just around the corner.

They really are on to it.

As always parents/caregiver/media not accepting responsibility and instead throwing the blame to something that's been blamed before.

8 Year Old somehow has access to a gun and a game that is MA15+. Seems like the household is really suited for children.

In all fairness GTA4 is so bad it probably drove the kid to insanity.

Since when does it reward you for killing in GTA? Every time you kill or commit any crime the cops will swoop in. Violence actually has a negative consequence.
