Nah, don't bother. TL;DR is I'm a massive blowhard and I pick fights online that usually go nowhere.

Finding it hard to relate to people irl I suspect is pretty common for all of us who've grown up online, especially the forum generation. Some of my best friends are people I thought were total and outright ****s when I met them because my social-fu is exceptionally bad up until the third or fourth time I hang out with someone. ****, I got told by a bunch of people I've hung out with for years that they finally "got" me when I was drunk because I finally wasn't putting a face on, so, :/. I don't even have any trauma to deal with (other than an autoimmune disease, which is currently in remission), I'm just a bit of a dick lol.

Anyway, hope you're feeling/are on the track to feeling better. I'm still keen to organise a GPOD Chch meet again at some point (maybe after the ski season tho :E).
Thanks man, and yeah, keen on a Chch meet whenever (it's been aaaagees). Hope the ski season is good.

Anyone play much poker? Online or otherwise.

I've started playing online just with play money.

I'm crushing it, but I don't know if I'm good or everyone else is bad.
Only play live -last night's haul after a couple of hours of no limit $1/$2

    Where do you play? Casino?

I might give it a go one day. Need to keep practicing online though. Getting a lot better at reading the cards quickly so I know what I have and what else is potentially out there.

I only really play when I'm in Vegas, maybe visit sky city a couple of times a year.

Recommend following some of the poker pros/reading their blogs - Doug Polk is quite good at explaining complex situations

Do you ever feel like you're just barely hanging on to sanity? Like you could just suddenly snap and slip effortlessly into complete and utter emotional and mental chaos?

Play money will teach you awful habits. Just throw $20 down and play some micro tournaments.

I played at Skycity once. Grinded my way up to about $600 from $50 over the night. Last hand of the night I hit trips on the flop with pocket Kings and raised, got reraised so I went all in. He called and got a runner runner straight with 84 off or something. Never again.

3 teeth rooted from my self inflicted injury. Need 3 crowns although you wouldnt think so looking at first glance. Did a proper job of it to say the least. Dentist was a GC let me off the part where I need to pay the top up part and where ACC pays the rest. Perhaps its my rather unkempt look thats going on at the moment.

Yep. Work is burning me out at the moment alongside a very disrupted domestic life. I feel like insanity would sometimes be easier.

Damn that's brutal. He re-raised with 8,4? I guess he was trying to bluff you and got lucky as hell? Doesn't explain why he'd call your all in though.
You can do everything right with a great hand and just have rotten luck. Someone hits a miracle one out card on the river or whatever.

What does runner runner mean? I hear the commentators say it sometimes. Is it back to back cards needed to hit the winning hand?

I'd like to think it won't but you may be right.

Even though it's play money I've been trying to protect my chips. I watched Daniel Negreanu streaming and listened to how he played his hands. Also watched a video that talked about the basics of how to bet. It said never limp in. If you have a good hand then bet, if it's bad then fold. Also said don't be afraid to fold even if you've already put a lot of chips in.

So I've been trying to use those tactics and only playing good hands. So far I've tripled what I started with in a few nights.

You shouldn't let bad beats get to you, sure the guy got lucky that time but in the long run you will win. Instead of being results orientated you need to make sure you're making the best decision with the information available to you at the time.

Correct re: runner runner and play money may as well be a completely different game

Had the job interview. Think it went pretty well, they are going to make the decision today. I was shortlisted and one of a few interviewed so that's pretty positive. I nailed all the questions they had.

Helps that I know enough about the automotive industry to answer the questions properly.
