Kotaku staff are also having trouble with their consoles, and ours is similarly out of action.
    Damn, that sucks!

After using sleep mode for the first time in 2.0, shadow of mordor was really chugging (15 fps). As a console gamer I really shouldn't have cared about this, but a reset sorted it out. No more sleep mode for me.

Firstly let me say that the features Sony added to the 2.0 firmware are awesome - upload to youtube is my favorite.

However, this happened to me over the weekend and was really concerning. After losing a couple PS3's over the years I'm not going to lie, when my ps4 become unresponsive, I assumed the worst and panicked a bit. Thankfully everything seems to be working fine - I'll definitely be avoiding rest mode.

This seems like quite a severe issue and to be honest, has rocked my confidence in the reliability in future firmware updates. I think I will make use of the backup functionality like I do with the PS3.

It's a shame really because this issue is highly likely to over shadows all the great additional features they added in 2.0

Sounds like this is causing weird video lag with aliens isolation, too
