New Operation is fun (playing it for the Tides of War bizzo)

I never really played BF1 Operations except for a tiny bit at launch (because there were never any Oceania servers...) but there is a bunch of sooking on reddit about how BF5 Operations are not as good as the BF1 ones, but i can't really remember what is different. What did they change? Or is it just the usual reddit screeching?
    They're very similiar IMO gameplay-wise.

BF1 seemed to have more "emotion" pre-round though, each faction speaking in their native tongue (with subtitles where required), it was a full on history lesson. If you could spawn in quick enough you could listen to the pre-battle speeches which were excellent.

The biggest issue with Operations (and any other "PTO-heavy" game mode) is the balancing. There's still so many players that prefer to camp back in the spawn zone with sniper rifles, tanks etc. and not push up. Without the whole team pushing aggressively, using armour for shields, heavy use of smoke, flanking etc. it is near impossible to win in my experience. When you end up in a squad and team that knows what to do the round ends very quickly!

You can position yourself pretty strategically.

My Bro spawned drove and ran over 6 people then got back with a few blasts but survived last night in game...

It should attract people back to BF5

Looks good but I just can't get into BR games.

    Looks great.

Will give it a go for sure. Not sure on tanks... they are OP as it is. BR should be info only, with transport vehicles IMO.

It looks like there's a ton of AT around the map and tanks are pretty easy to take out if you know what you're doing and with 2 or 3 members of a squad with AT i don't think it'll be that much of a problem. They require fuel as well. My biggest concern is EA being EA. My bet is they'll release it then forget about it and it'll be dead within a few months.

Looks like it was dead on release. Nobody got a game last night when I was on at 10.30. Just lobbying around.

EA ****ed themselves again by releasing Apex not long before this lol

I honestly think they've just strayed too far from what made Battlefield unique. Simple games with less customization (compared to modern games) have proven to be massively popular long-term and better for competitive play, which seems to correlate with non-competitive longevity.

Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield 2 were legitimate eSport games, and there is nothing that offers anything like what they offered at the moment.

^ Completely agree. Let me drive anything that looks like it should be driven too. Don't make me get lost in millions of confusing customisations.

How have we gone from having the ability to drive battleships, planes, and cars, to not being able to drive the tractor in the field.

I mean... the reasoning is within your post. With time zones you're relying on matching with just NZ, most of which are at work/going to school/sleeping.

Yet to try, tbh didn't realise it had released yet as saw next Tides started on 28th Mar. Hopefully get a go at it tonight.

Yeah i'm aware its not peak hours but still you would think a single game would pop eventually, Surely there's 64 people within the oceanic region who aren't working etc.

Doubt it, even conquest is usually pretty dead till about lunch time nz time and I cant imagine firestorm is super appealing to a lot of people...

The lack of maps and rsp for bfv is going to kill it, only a couple more due until later this year (and the maps in game at the moment are not really super awesome) Dice has said quality over quantity but I think as far as whats in the game now goes on average they wouldn't come close to the average quality of any of the other main games.

Bloke from dice also said that firestorm was 10x the size of hamada so it means we have more maps lol

Okay, got a couple games in at 2pm. Was fun. I hope more people play.

Jumping in on this tonight. Can't wait

its good fun with a good squad, only played with a full squad of people i know and won 2 games which was good. First game i died within 30 seconds while tabbed. It's like a whole new game.

  21. Post
It's certainly a bit different that's for sure

    How's the oceanic playerbase?

  23. Post
After 4 games not enjoying it.

I wish it was faster to get into another game. The play again button should quickly push me to another game of the same mode and uniform.

I've tried it out with mates. Maybe I'm just over the BR genre cause it feels meh. The looting system after killing someone is terrible, especially when there's multiple bodies.

Anyone that has a mouse adapter on Xbox will own any game, and there's squads/xbox live buddies that run in gangs with them.

And yeah, it's slow to get into matches and we were spawning at times outside our squad we created in lobby.
