His reputation has definitely taken a pretty hard hit thanks to Colonial Marines at the bare minimum.
That said, with the state of Battleborn's playerbase, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if they WERE planning for Free to Play.

A free trial with upgrades won't make much sense at this point.
