The best use that I have found is that they stop the kids asking for fidget spinners.

ideal for causing fights amongst 6 year olds.

atleast the fad toys i had as a kid made infuriating noises.

This. Chatter rings were an abomination, a crime against nature and humanity.

This. I see them all over the school I teach at, just spinning on desks, doing **** all.

When I asked a kid with one what it's for he said "I don't know, it's just a fidget toy"

One wonders how successful Tolstoy's seminal novel "War and Peace" would have been if it were published under its original title, "War; what is it good for?"

Maybe when they're messing with them they're not ****ing around with their phones.

Buy them a hula hoop instead and at least they'll get some exercise.

Dunno if they're worse than the obsession my friends and I had over Garbage Pail Kids stickers back in my day..

    "what is that noise!?"

-edit- really? caps are blocked? sometimes its needed for effect. just ban individual caps-tards if they're a problem.

I got one today and I've been happily spinning it with one hand for the past few hours and I don't even know why

Same reason why we old farts loved our tops. Although, tops were cooler because you could battle them and sometimes when someone misses hard during a battle, makes for a bloody foot.

I still have one from back when they were a thing. Weirdly one stall at Armageddon in Wellington today was selling them for $30. Of course, every single other stall had the finger spinners.
