It might hurt sales potential. PC gamers are largely happy to wait for late ports to get better versions. Console gamers are generally a lot more fickle and will fly the coup when a shiny new thing appears.

This game is going to be a repeat of 2013-2015 of Witcher 3 pre-release discussion:- I.e. people calling out visual downgrades to accommodate weak console hardware and then fanboys playing apologist for CDPR.

Today we had some dev comment on details about the games visuals and audio.

Firstly, the game features a full real time rayvtraced global illumination system which in their words is better than anything else on the market and they can't wait to show it off. You will obviously need a GPu that does rayvtracing to use it.

Secondly, the game features object based audio system with Dolby Atmos encoding and the developer is recommending playing the game on a Dolby Atmos audio system if you can afford it.

They also acknowledged that to see and hear these glorious details you need to be a rich gamer which is a nice change, no often developers acknowledge the cost of hardware to play their games in its intended output.

Stadia is dead, sorry to tell you. Not sorry.

Stadia hasn't had a single new game added in 42 days now. When asked about Google said "its up to developers to make games for Stadia, not Google". Typical, can't give a shit attitude.

Very happy to hear that business model is a complete failure

Off topic, but I'm a bit saddened by it. Imagine if their game lineup had strategy games and JRPG's. I'd love to play some Civ 6 or anno 1800 on android or boot up Final Fantasy 10 on my phone without dealing with emulators. They just completely messed up the game selection.

Seriously, do you not have a Switch? Civ 6 is on there and JRPGs are leaking out of the eyeballs for it.

Sure, it's not cutting edge graphics, nor the best performance, but most JRPGs in recent years have stuck with PS3 era graphics cuz they've targeted mobile and Vita anyway. I.e. games scaled to be playable on platforms which are actually popular in Japan.

    You missed the /s

Though I do think streaming games will *eventually* help to solve the problem; it'll just take a long time for infrastructure and technology to reach that point for the majority of consumers.

I do have civ on the Switch actually, but it'd be much better to carry around one device - I'm not going to be carrying my Switch around unless I know I'll have tons of free time. In any case, it looks like GeForce Now fits this bill quite perfectly (although, I don't think Square-Enix is on board for some reason?)

As expected. Guess we will get a similar enhanced GPU etc update much later for the PC as i guess as they have to drop fidelity for the current consoles now.
