New PC build - any suggestions?

Looking for guidance/advice for my new PC i'm building. The current parts list is below, the only thing I'm not so sure about is the RAM. Are there any better choices for sub $800, building this for gaming at 1440p (budget is sub $4500).

    Mobo: Asus ROG Strix z370-e

    CPU: i7 8700k

RAM (open to suggestions), but currently:

    GPU: Asus Strix 1080ti

    SS 500gb Samsung 960 Evo

Why 32GB RAM for gaming? Is that mobo quad channel or something?

Will be dual channel and agree, 32GB is a waste of money for gaming. 16GB is enough to game and do whatever else you may need. Unless you are running VM, total overkill. I'd check out their pre-built systems if I had that budget, some sweet rigs.
Quick example: http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/syst...41&systypeid=3 replace the 1070 with 1080Ti and you're done.

    Or this one: http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/syst...45&systypeid=5
    Includes an overclock.

Basically built your exact system with 1070Ti and went with 16Gb (2x 8Gb) of Corsair Vengeance LPX for $340 odd after tossing up 32Gb too. As above, you're not going to need it.

Insurance payout for my PC that was stolen last week means I have $4500 to spend on a replacement.

I spoke to them about the pre-builds and was told that I’d be better off building my own as the case alone in those builds is double the amount of the one I chose myself.

Well if I had to spend up to the limit, I'd drop down the RAM and get a larger SSD.

What case are you looking at? Cheap cases are usually cheap for a reason. A case is also a small proportion of the build cost (for your budget), and prebuilds are often cheaper than buying individual parts. The Battlebox case is like $150. Which cooler are you using for CPU?

If my budget was $4,500 I would get the best monitor and best graphics card I could and then piece together the rest from whatever was left over...

I have the screen sorted (BenQ, 1440p, 144hz, 1 ms), and there’s not much better than the 1080ti at the moment. I really wanted the MSI Gaming X Trio 1080ti but unfortunately there’s none left in NZ.

Looking at a NZXT S340 Elite case and a NZXT Kraken X62 AIO for the CPU.

And it’s done. Stuck with 16gb ram, went with a Fractal Design Define R5... now to figure out how to put it together (first time build)

The trident Z rams, Mobo, GPU all syncs with Asus Aura Sync.

I got the Deepcool AIO 240(360 available) RGB syncs as well. Comes with free fan hub and more Christmas Tree lights.

But i swapped all my case fans and radiator fans for Noctuas.. crazy performance and noise... Industrial range has the highest spec in the market

You can usually work it out if you build the system in their cart (and other companies carts) and see how it stacks up. With pricing fluctuations there is no yes or no answer to that one. They can certainly be good deals, especially if you find one on special they are trying to just get out the door.

Love reading threads like this and seeing the choices people make on rigs. That screen you went with is a favorite and gaming at 1440p is beautiful. Definately the sweet spot right now. As for the rest of the build, I think you did damn well. Asus motherboards are my favorite though I have has a few mares with the software through AI suite.

Unfortunately those speeds don’t translate into faster game load times, it’s helpful for workloads but won’t help your pc and games boot any faster over a normal sata 3 ssd

    Hi Jargar,

    We appreciate your feedback,

To be perfectly honest we are slightly perplexed by you not being able to enter our store at 10am as we have video footage from our store from the past few Saturdays and can see our store front doors being opened no later than 9.58am. Perhaps you mistook us as being closed when we were not?

When looking at video footage from 10.15am through to 11.30am over the past few Saturdays we could not find anyone walking around our store for 30 minutes unattended.
We are generally quite busy on Saturdays so on the odd occasion it may be 5 minutes or so before we can attend to customers that are waiting. We did have one customer in a blue vehicle pull into our carpark, walk in to the front of our shop for a couple of minutes and then walk out again, but that doesn’t match your description of events.

We are certainly not discounting the fact that you may have received poor customer service from us in-store, however we endeavour to offer top-quality customer service, and are always looking for ways to improve.
We would like the opportunity to make this up to you, so if you could please PM us any information that you can provide with regards to your experience in-store, such as the date and time of your visit, and if possible, a description of the clothes that you were wearing on the day, it will be extremely helpful in ensuring that we can resolve the situation.
