they are definitely pulling the plug on all the movie releases except for 9 and putting them onto their streaming service. The execs definitely know that after killing off all the original characters and the failure of Solo to convince the older audience to return, the best bet is to fold the current characters into the dust bin and go with other characters and angles.
There is no way the benioff and weiss films don't get a theatrical release. They may do a simultaneous limited theatrical run with a full streaming release (kinda like what netflix is doing with Andy Serkis new jungle book movie). Whether Johnson's trilogy is still happening is up in the air right now a lot of speculation is going around that its been canned. Whats interesting is a while ago it sounds like Lucasfilm refocused and are fast tracking Episodes 10,11,12. putting them above Johnson and the Benioff and Weiss films. You can bet were still gonna get main saga films there maybe 3-5 year gap at least though. Thats what the Benioff and Weiss and Johnson series are for. To fill in the gap while the main saga goes away for a while. So they can actually map out a good story. And not just wing it.

i cannot really convince you then if you believe Rey or Rose etc were all fine and good . /shrug , and before you start on the you hate them because they are female, just think if Rey was written as a male character, he would have gotten the same treatment.

No it wouldn't have; Luke was an objectively flat/shallow/kinda shitty character, and everyone loves him.

I think the more interesting star wars stories going forward will be on Disneys streaming service. They seem to be doing some really cool different stuff there. The Mandalorian, The Cassian Andor prequel series etc. I guess the benioff and weiss films could be good if it is the old republic like some are saying.
Yeah at this point I'm way more interested in the different stuff they have lined up.

You have a reading problem. You ignored my first question. And Rey was similar to Luke Skywalker but in female form - teenager stuck on a desolate planet that finds the force. Even a blatant SW fanboy like me can admit that Luke was a whiney major pain in the arse in A New Hope but again was fine on the whole. Rose was ok but again didn't have "nothing much wrong" with her, like I said. Rose's problem was that she was stuck inside a lame casino scene, but that happened to Finn too.

Nice assumption about sexual prejudice too. You just sound like a moaner because the movie didn't go the way you wanted, so with that big ol' chip on your shoulder, you admit you want the next one to fail.

i dont have a reading problem, you are the one with the massive chip on the shoulder because someone attacked your " movie " . The youtube link answered your question. Again, i dont have any way of convincing you simply because your view of Rey as a character is objectionably wrong. No Mary Sue or Gary Sue or Marty Sue has ever been a " good " character. The trope is undefendable except to a someone with cognitive dissonace.

That's a good video that goes a long way to explaining why VII and VIII felt so flat for me. Going to be hard for IX to make up for it given it will inherit the same flawed characters.

Getting sick of people whingeing about Star Wars movies using standard Star Wars tropes. Go watch something else.

Twitter is buzzing re a rumour going around that Rian Johnson has stepped down from his trilogy he was developing. Lots of vague tweets hinting at a director leaving a major franchise.

Zero chance at all he stepped down. He would have been fired and they are letting him save face *if* it’s actually him.

cbr and the like are total trash websites. 99% clickbait and baseless rumor.

What the hell is he even gonna make a trilogy about? How some other new characters we don't know or care about all make dumb mistakes and end up with no arc, but it's worth it because they show how totally bad slavery and exploitation is, then some 2second featured extra gets really inspired by them?

    Totally agree with you.
    Hope he's gonna finish it.

JJ just anounced that production has wrapped on Episode IX! Damn hard to believe the force awakens came out just a few years ago and now the sequel trilogy will finish up in December.

Supposedly this is a reference image for the 1st first poster. Notice it doesn't have the title yet.

If that poster is real it seems like a direct sequel to Force Awakens. Reintroducing Kylo’s squad seems like it’s overwriting TLJ. However the red stormtrooper seems like a funko fan made the poster, shrug

you know, holding your light sabres like that is kinda silly, blocking with the blade would result in your own light sabre hitting and cauterizing open your arm or forearm or shoulder etc..

Apparently Episode IX is being described as a "course correction" internally at Lucasfilm.

Not sure if I agree it's the greatest theory ever, but it would make Rey a more compelling character for me

Why does C3-PO appear to be holding Chewie's bowcaster and wearing his sash thing, and Chewie is also there wearing it?

It's a fan-made work. Mark Hamill said it probably wasn't official on Twitter.
