Star Trek Next Gen - New Chapter

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainmen...captain-picard

Star Trek actor Sir Patrick Stewart is to reprise the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in a new series for the US streaming platform CBS All Access. The new series would be set approximately two decades after the conclusion of the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation and its spin-off films.
    I'll be watching this.

They'll probably kill off his character in a completely unflattering way a few episodes in. The show's new lead will be a PoC lesbian with no character flaws and who is a master of every task which she attempts.

As long as she regularly rips her shirt off Kirk-style I'll be happy.

It was a joke but there's truth in humour.

You just need to look at Disney Star Wars films and Marvel Comics (not MCU... quite yet. Captain Marvel is just the start.), where you're given "minority" leads who're Mary Sues, who end up being utterly dull because there's no character conflict or potential for them to grow. They're Mary Sues because they're afraid that a dozen loud insecure people on social media with mental illness, who can't separate fiction from reality, will be upset if they DARE to portray to women or a minority in even the slightest bad light.

All the personal attacks in the world doesn't change reality. There are people trying to co-opt popular entertainment media and franchises to push their agitprop and not to tell good, escapist stories.

I'm gonna take a guess that a show called Star Trek: Picard won't kill off the title character.

Imagine thinking they cast Sir Patrick Stewart as Picard for the sake of diversity.

There's at least one episode of TNG where a future version of Dara has altered his appearance to better fit in, but I reckon this scenario is more likely to be a Picard talking to an old friend who isn't really there

Whenever I'm flicking through Netflix and can't decide on something to watch, Next Gen is always my default go-to.

Do Star Trek androids have firmware? Just say it was a firmware bug or something. Or Androids just degrade over time. Another example of this is Arnold in Terminator Dark Fate they very obviously aged the t-800 and gave him some facial hair. How do they explain that. Do Terminators grow facial hair now? lol.

pretty sure it's in judgement day where he explains that he's a biological skin over a cybernetic frame.

Video not available? Why'd they take down a teaser for their own series?
