    Mulan (Live action)

Probably not much interest in this film but here is a little something from Poolburn in Central Otago. Was up here doing a LoTR tour (burning of westfold, multiple Rohan sets) and spotted this large catering tent and a fair bit of earth moving equipment and gate control dotted around the place. Looks like they are getting ready to feed a lot of extras up there.

Well duh. I remember the original being scrutinized for it's inaccuracies as well. It's a Disney tale. Not a documentary.

well the same people probably conveniently forget that the Mongols eventually did conquer China a couple of centuries later . And to this day much of both Northern and Southern "chinese" genes are directly traceable to the Hordes who won. The mongols likely exterminated or severely reduced certain genetic lineages from Northern china.

well, in the original story, Mulan was not just " exposed" by her former comrades ..like all old school fairy tales ( Grim fairy tales for example ) it has been truly cleansed of all the unpleasant edges and less palatable aspects .

Well, it's not the Disney tale either. There's no music, plus there's no Mushu, no Shang and she isn't called Ping when she's pretending to be a guy. Not quite sure this film knows what it is.
