    Big Bash League 2018/2019

Man D'Arcy Short is a good player...his T20 average is like mid-40's. How awful are the Heat though? Vettori's worth as a coach must be really plummeting

He'd be doing everything the teams/coaches set out. Certainly no free ride out there.

Definitely a bit unlucky last night, he could have easily saved himself but that's Baz... unselfish.

Would be rich to give him the boot after two games and a run out. He's already not captain, but he's gotta click soon. Certainly not the only one in that Heat team not firing.

Generally speaking. Seems an age since he got consistent runs.

It's a different game. His bowling style is generally suited to the shorter forms, he overuses his variations - I know it's only one test but he did. When players don't have to score quickly off him then they can negate him easier. He ended up bowling a lot of freebies and was expensive because he tries a bit too hard.

Test cricket is a patience game, that's difficult for someone who expects fireworks. Perhaps he would get better with more games but that's not really an attractive prospect when you can already own the T20 circuit like he can.

No one can pick him though? Would be interesting to see him against our batsman

No one can pick him in T20, they're not exactly trying to defend him out. Fields are different, lengths needed are much different in tests. He went for 51 runs off his first 7 overs in that test.

Something like half of his deliveries in his test were wrong'uns. You really need to have a great stock delivery to be a top test bowler. Rashid also bowls pretty quick without much flight. He doesn't exactly turn it much either.

I'm sure he would be a decent test bowler in time, but certainly not the heights of his T20 or ODI status. Santner is similar for us, not close to being as good in tests. Lyon/Ashwin are the opposite, excelling only in tests. I can't really think of a spinner who is great across all forms currently playing.

Scorchers are looking rubbish so far this year, they kept most of their team from last year as well, so it's either the other teams have gotten better or maybe it was the Justin Langer effect? Strikers have dropped 2 out of their 3 games so far as well, it's early days but still.

Hurricanes are looking the goods again this year. Having Wade and Short at the top of the order and both in form means that they should get off to a flier pretty much every time they bat.

That Meredith from the Hurricanes looked pretty sharp last night - late 140’s and hurrying the batsman up

Yeah he's definitely got some pace, having him and Archer in the same team is almost OP.

Rashid is such a good cricketer, why is he at 8? So many flogs ahead of him like Lehmann.

Trying to promote Aussie talent I guess? I can't understand it either. Rashid can go from ball 1 whereas Lehmann, Short and Wells are meant to be better batsmen, but they take way too many balls to get settled and then usually get to a bad shot trying to release pressure.
