Courier sent it to his house in greymouth for the weekend so he can have a tutu.

I'm not a courier, so can't answer why parcels aren't always sent direct from A to B. But I know they aren't. Mistakes aside.

Can't be much different to flying yourself somewhere in NZ, but at the time you wish to fly, having to have a stop over somewhere else due to no direct flight.

Hopefully they don't take too long to get it to you anyway.
The point is its Greymouth, not somewhere along the way. Of the hundreds (thousands?) of parcels I've had shipped to me over the years, not a single parcel has shown as having passed through Greymouth, or any other completely out of the way town.

It was a reasonable assumption that his package delivery had been screwed up if it went to Greymouth.

yep its pretty obvious that it was a stuff up. but if you guys ever get a chance to visit a courier depot, its quite a sight to behold. there are literally millions of things being processed and usually its sorted in a matter of seconds and due to human error things are placed into wrong bins ALL the time. Then it doesnt get cross checked until it lands at the destination for receiving. Then it is flagged and corrected usually taking a couple of days in the process.

I get that, I just find it very frustrating, one or even two mistakes I can forgive, hey it happens, but now over the course of two weeks ive had
    - Courier refuse to drive up our drive to delivery my RAM, instead took it straight to post shop (I know this because my wife has eyes on mailbox all day, no card left, no attempt, I had to leave work early to get it)
    - Courier accidentally sent monitor to greymouth
    - Courier keeps not delivering monitor because "ran out of time".

Like it get it, we are all human, but just deliver the damn thing. If I have to pick it up from the depot again im going to be pissed, itll cost me a 30-40min drive, a decent amount of petrol and time off work to go get it, practically doubling the shipping cost to me.

Hopefully next time somebody posts their frustration that a service they've paid for has encountered a delay you'll have more insight than "I don't see a problem".

Nice selective quoting there of my original post, getting quite petty now.

Courier company messed up, and they will have worked that out when they unloaded it to find it had been wrongly sorted. Much to the Greymouth branches annoyance too I imagine. As Ballistica says, shit happens. Not that much different to couriers taking over a week for across town deliveries. Not the normal, but sometimes things do happen which delay deliveries. My post clearly implied that I don't see a problem, unless they aren't going to deliver it to them. People are allowed different opinions, shock horror.

When I'm ordering things particularly from overseas I just take the attitude that "it will get here when it gets here". I don't look at the tracking or anything.

It is better to be pleasantly surprised when it arrives at your door rather than stressed that it isn't here yet...

There very clearly was a problem, they sent it to the wrong town. Problems can be resolved thankfully.

getting a bit off topic but i just want to say that regarding courier, you get what you pay for. if there is a premium overnight signed courier service by a reputable company then you may expect a good service. if you got it sent using barebones on a budget courier company, usually the drivers just dont care and will literally throw things around because there is little/no liability so just "doing a job" at the end of the day.

Can you get things sent to your work address? it usually helps everyone as you will be there during the working hours normally and if not someone else will be to sign for it. Also, the drivers are usually around the commercial areas more often than the random residential, etc.

Didn't have any choice on courier when purchased, had no idea who it even would be until I got the tracking label. They didn't deliver it again today so I made a deal with them that they will let me in early tomorrow before work to get it. Will definitely ship to work from now on.

Will post impressions and photos of setup tomorrow night hopefully.

    First impressions are -
Ultra wide is something else, there's just so much space each side, it feels very anti-claustrophobic but I'm still not sure how to fill the space yet
Colours out of the box are bad, very washed out, will need some tweaking
Games feel very immersive, only was able to play rocket league but it's like having my triples back but with much less effort.
Haven't used freesync yet but interested in how that works.
For the price very happy with purchase, but I'd like to upgrade in a few years to something a bit nicer.

If you ever fullscreen anything, you're doing it wrong.

I don't think I full screen anything other than games. Sometimes spreadsheets.

High res VR on an OLED headset is in a different league in my opinion. Little wank stains growing up with stuff like this these days don't know how good they've got it, back in my day...

My brother and I played through all Halo 1+ and Gears of War games, as well as all the rest of the splitscreen campign games on a shitty old 15" CRT. It was so bad I didn't actually know what Marcus Fenix looked like until years later.
