I've spoken to a couple of people who have said taking probiotics over a year has helped restore gut bacteria and has in turn improved their immune system (their way of quantifying this was that it relieved their eczema).

I'm skeptical as it's purely anecdotal. Would be interesting to quiz a doctor on it.

Saw a doco on it a year or 2 back, they were able to take gut bacteria samples from anonymous patients then correctly identified the related ailments (allergies, eczema, asthma etc).

Of all the supplements you can buy, probiotics are probably the most worthwhile... although I'm dubious on the value of taking them daily. Certainly if you're taking antibiotics and/or have recently finished up a prescription there's more than likely some value to them.

I had a course of antibiotics and had terrible digestion problems for a good month afterward. Finally got sick of it and got a supply of live culture probiotics. Cleared up my stomach issues over about 3 weeks, and I'm now the most regular I've been in 15 years.

You can introduce good bacteria in your diet by eating any fermented foods such as kimchi/sauerkraut or a tsp of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water (be careful these all taste like shit)
Kombucha is nice but most are expensive and full of sugar

What? Kim chi is awesome. Also there's miso soup which is also yum. I'd take that over goats milk. Can't stand the smell.

Add all the biota you like, but it's not really going to hang around unless you feed your body large and regular amounts of prebiotic fiber to maintain the healthy gut biome.
