    Budget Laptop Recommendations

Sis needs a new Laptop. Needs to play some basic games and watch movies.

So 1080p, and a dedicated graphics card of some sort would be required.

    Budget around $800-1000AU

My mum and brother use xiaomi smart phones and rate them well. I have a thinkPad laptop that is ex-lease and am pretty happy with it, so reckon it would meet your sis' requirements

also looking for a budget laptop for someone, doesn't need to be much its just for net/movies. $400-700ish.

Like extremely basic af, 15.6 1366 resolution is fine. Win10. Cheaper the better. Any suggestions?

Either of these would be decent. The Ryzen is roughly 20 - 30% faster than the Celeron.

    Option 1

    Option 2

This store in Dunedin has the non SSD one for $460. I'd just grab that and spend the extra hundred on a 480/500 gig SSD.

The Xiaomi Netbook 15.6 was great until one day it just turned off and wouldn't turn back on. Have been unable to revive it, tried everything - reseating pretty much everything I could, unplugging things from mobo etc. Think it's mobo or cpu that died. Can't find any spare parts for it, and can't bring myself to re-buy it, but I haven't found anything as well specced at the price point. It also looks great. Dangit!
