So “Huawei NZ exec” is right and Hadyn Greens comment doesn’t apply as existing Huawei devices will not be affected.
I think he may be a bit biased...

    Interesting aspect of it.

Huawei will start rolling out their new os

This will probably be a reason to return the phone under the cga

So it seems keeping the phone is the only thing we can do now (not so bad as I love the phone otherwise). And if updates stop down the road (within reasonable time), then we can query for a refund under CGA.
Pretty much this. I adore my Mate 20 Pro and would love to continue with it as is, but if it loses it's access to Google stuff or moves to a proprietary OS leaving Android based EMUI dead in the water I will be returning it. Probably get a OnePlus or something instead.

The comments of that article is pretty funny, turns completely political.

It'll be interesting to see what Huawei does with their phones.

Update says not being released internationally until 2020

    https://www.techradar.com/au/news/hu...out-next-month

So best outcome is that Huawei sort this out before then

Second best option would be to get your money back next year and buy a next gen phone

If there are no more app updates after the 90 days is over then that should be enough to warrant a CGA claim.

Just received a new update that brings the security patch level to April. Also introduced dual camera mode whatever that is.

Been eyeing up getting a p30 pro for a while now but am considering pulling the plug on getting this sweet phone due to.. Donald Trump

Alternatively...grab one while they are super cheap, and then all this trade deal stuff will settle over the next 12 months and all will return to normal. (That's what I'm telling myself anyway.)

    Are they cheaper now?

I figured they would be cheaper now but haven't seen any signs of that.

Got my redemption Huawei Watch GT today - it's quite nice. Lame choice of faces though, and you have to hax a Huawei UK account to download more.

Are the faces on the UK version better?

Battery life is amazing. I'm using around 5% a day.

Apparently there's a heap more options. Here's how to do it: https://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-t...awei-watch-gt/

I just tried it - didn't have much luck.

They would be cheaper secondhand in Countries which don't have our consumer laws.

Under the CGA we should be able to return them if things truly turn to shite.

I bit the bullet and opened the watch that I had intended to sell.
Got to the point it wasn't worth it and I had enjoyed my trial with the cheapie.
Is it just me or are Facebook Messenger notifications not allowed to be pushed?
I can't find it in the list of apps in the notification options.

The weak vibration has led me to miss some notifications too.
At least it's much better looking.

It sounds like google is pushing back, and are trying to get google an exemption from the ban, so hopefully everything will be sorted soon
