Grab the dimensions of a reference phone, rather than the screen size, that's the size you want and chuck that as a maximum into GSMArena. This gen has a huge push for high screen to body ratios which makes screen sizes a poor comparison vs what you'll be upgrading from and this also means that regular size phones have larger screens.

EG:
Galaxy S10, 6.1" screen (93.2 cm2) 149.9 x 70.4 x 7.8 mm
Galaxy S8, 5.8" screen (84.8 cm2) 148.9 x 68.1 x 8 mm
Galaxy S10e 5.8" screen (82.8 cm2) 142.2 x 69.9 x 7.9 mm

The 6.1" of the S10 is closer in total dimensions to the 5.8" of the S8 than the S8 is to 5.8" S10e.

You could check out something like the Pixel 3. It has a 5.5 amoled screen and runs stock android. I found one in mint condition from a place called good tech (I have purchased from there before and have no complaints).
