[Aussie bushfires] Shits ****ed; where to throw cash

By now we all know about the Aussie bushfires. It's pretty bad, a massive area has been burned and it's going to get much ****ing worse by the time summer is done.

We may cast shade on our Tasman neighbours during sporting events, but shit's really ****ed over there and they need any help they can get.

Many of us know how shit it was during the earthquake times, so lets show our ANZAC mates some love!

This is what it was like living at the start of the 20th Century, that's why photos all look like this.

Around the 30s-50s it was black and white for a while, and it's only now we're enjoying the full colour spectrum. Until today, anyway. Everything old is new again.

Maybe the Aussies should spend some of their own money.

Their government decided not to buy more aerial firefighting capacity 4 years ago.

    https://www.smh.com.au/politics/fede...03-p53onl.html

We've had firefighters over there every year for a while now.

Would help if their PM wasn't a denier and a coal booster as well.

Also, the time to cut down some of the shade trees round their houses came and went a long time ago.

They deserve it to be honest.

    Currently living in Sydney.

Every week for the past few months has been very smokey and cloudy, got to a point where it was so bad that you could smell it deeply and see tiny ashes coming down .

Lots of stories in the news (in AU) in regards to clearing of fuel being banned, burn offs being banned and that sort of thing. Greenies fighting against things like that.

That's what the guy on the news said anyway, so it must be true?

Lots of people were complaining about it though, about the above and massive inaction to help prevent this being such a bad situation. They used to go in and clear out all the fuel during winter to help reduce the severity of the fires. No longer. Then fires get worse and worse each year.

    So smokey in Melbourne today.

Love everyone blaming the Greens. Last I checked, they aren't running the country.

Fuel reduction is a small part of the management of bush-fires.

It's not a small part of not getting your house burned down.

    it's the most important thing.

In b4 he comes back with some kind of wildlife kicking anecdote or "funny" quip about how they shouldn't live there if they can't take a joke

Obviously I was talking about people.

Australians have a long history of misunderstanding the environment they live in, as have we.

But misinterpret it if you have to.

"they deserve it" completely negates your care for anything else but the people complaining
